Salmonella concerns prompt recall of grape tomato

Salmonella can cause serious illness and even death if ingested.Recall affects 29 types of packaged salads sold at six retail storesThe six is Albertson, Raley, Sam's Club, Savemart, Signature Cafe and Wal-MartThe recall applies to products sold in 13 Western States

Taylor farms Pacific, Inc., a provider of food based in California for six retail stores, announced the recall of grape tomatoes produced by a producer who stated that the vegetables which may be contaminated with salmonella.


The recall applies to 29 brand packaged salads sold at Albertson, Raley, Sam's Club, Savemart, Signature Cafe, and Wal-Mart, the company said in a news release Monday. The products concerned have expiration dates from April 27 to May 9, according to the press release.


The recall is the 13 States, including the Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, New-Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming, according to a spreadsheet attached to the press release.


Salmonella is a form of bacteria present in the foods that can cause serious illness and even death if ingested.


Firm Taylor urged consumers shall consume these products and return to where they were purchased for a full refund.

Firm Taylor said customers with questions should call the company at 209-835-6300 or contact the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
