health check-ups are the cornerstone of good health, and in the first two years of your baby she will have many of them, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends at least nine from birth to 18 months.

Health check-ups are the best way to ensure a child is growing and development as it should. But they are more than this: Routine visits to the pediatrician give parents the opportunity to learn how to keep their children healthy and safe and have answer any medical questions.

I've been on both sides of this process, as a pediatrician who conducted thousands of examinations during the 40 years and father of eight.

In my experience, I have come with these tips to ensure a successful visit to the pediatrician.

1 Straight time

Do not make an appointment which coincide with NAPs or meals for your child and to avoid periods where he tends to get capricieux. Feed discovery or the snack pack. Find out when the Office is less likely to be occupied and, if possible, schedule exams during these hours hollow so that you do not have to wait long.

2. If you need additional time, say

A problem such as poor eating habits or the delayed development may require a little more attention, be sure to alert the staff of the Office when you make an appointment you have an issue important to discuss.

3. Dress for success baby

Avoid multiple layers of clothing or clothing with a lot of snaps and buttons. Toddlers number only as having their shoes taken off the coast, therefore opt for removable and remove yourself before the examination.

4 Convert advocate for your child

If you know that your toddler is frightened by the scale, ask the nurse to delay its weight until the end of physics. If she hates having his clothes removed, see if the doctor can perform most of the review while it has always dressed and in your arms or lap.

5 Put photos or videos

Take a photo with your smartphone to show the bad doctor how the eruption was two days ago. Or use a Flip video camera to record your baby colic calls. I found these tools very useful in the diagnosis and treatment of patients in my own practice.

6 Write

Make a list of questions that you forget anything important that you want to discuss. You will find also useful to provide a pad and pen to help you remember the answers and instructions of the doctor after leaving.

Questions, you can ask doc your baby:

-Is my child growing as expected?

-Its vaccines are updated?

-What changes should see its next stage of development?

7 Speak freely

There is no such thing as a stupid question. If you want to know if something is normal or if your child should have a new test or a vaccine, that you have read, just ask. Part of the object of these well-baby examinations is to get information and comfort of your doctor.

8 Prepare report the

Be prepared to answer questions on general topics, such as how your child sleeps, what and how much he eats, and if its health or behaviour has been changed since his last visit. You will be also asked specific questions to age on the milestones as walking and talking.

9 Be honest

If your child is not sleeping enough or too eat junk food, cut on the spot; your doctor can make accurate judgments if tell you him the truth.

10 Don't worry, be happy

Mothers reflect what I call the anxiety of the review. Rather than be worried about yourself, quickly engage the doctor with "happy to be here" greetings and gestures of the face. When baby feels that the doctor is a person approved of mom, it will be more cooperative. Try a free trial version of Parenting Magazine number - click here!Copyright 2010 the parenting group.
